People Search Media

The World Herald is reporting that Silicon Valley startup People Search Media has decided to open a new office in the Omaha area.

People Search Media owns dozens of websites and applications that help people find information quickly and effectively. We also develop applications which help people protect and control their personal information. These web properties leverage our expertise in direct response marketing, search engine advertising, and the creative use of new technologies.

It’s exciting to see new companies continue to bring exciting technologies and opportunities to Omaha and the Midwest. Our hope is that infusing some of the Silicon Valley culture, will help spur other companies to start more hightech & creative ventures.

Additionally, companies like PayPal, which started out as customer service locations, have grown their organizations locally here to support more tech jobs.

From the Omaha World Herald article initially announcing the relocation

While Silicon Valley breeds and is home to technical workers — software developers and engineers — Omaha produces people who are good at customer service, Steinbeck said.

One would also hope that even though the initial draw may have been “customer service”, that after being here awhile companies will realize the true wealth of technical and creative resources available in our city and devote additional R&D and engineering budgets to our city as well.

Moreso, we’re thrilled they are using the term “Silicon Prairie” in referring to our area …

“I’m excited to create this new environment for them, and I just know what it means to Omaha to continue to bring Silicon Valley here,” she said. “I’m more than happy to keep that new phrase of ‘Silicon Prairie’ alive.”

Congrats to the Omaha Chamber and the others involved in bringing People Search Media to the “Silicon Prairie.”  Regardless of intentions, we obviously believe this is a huge success for Omaha, and are excited to keep the momentum going!
