With the initiative to find four local bands to take to the stage at the inaugural MAHA Music Festival presented by Alegent Health, the organizers of the event are turning to local fans to help them decide.
At The Omaha Arts and Entertainment Awards Summer Showcase, The Jes Winter Band earned the first spot to play on the MAHA Local Stage sponsored by Brashear LLP.
The second spot was secured by It’s True. According to a MAHA press release, “[They] will appear after a collaborative effort between YFC, MAHA’s organizing committee, and 1% Productions earned them an invitation to play.”
The final two spots are up for grabs tonight as Little Brazil, Noah’s Ark was a Spaceship, Anniversaire, Little Black Stereo, and Conchance play at The Waiting Room in the MAHA Festival Showcase presented by 1% Productions. Here, fans will once again get the opportunity to vote for their favorite. Doors open at 8:00 PM.

Also up for grabs: volunteer opportunities. According to YFC board member Mike App, their goal is 200 volunteers, and as of last Friday, they were had 170 signed up. The positions are filling up fast, and I can see why, as all volunteers receive one free admission ticket and a “MAHA STAFF” t-shirt in return for working a two- to five-hour shift before, during and/or after the festival. Positions range from ID checking to managing backstage activities.
As I mentioned in our first post about MAHA, we’re excited about the efforts of YFC to establish a nationally-known music festival in Omaha. We hope that we’re helping to get the word out, and we encourage you to do the same. If you don’t have plans for the 29th, consider volunteering, or better yet, attending as a concert-goer.
Tickets for the all-ages, all-day show featuring Dashboard Confessional, G. Love & Special Sauce, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Serena Ryder, Army Navy and The Appleseed Cast are $29.50.
