The latest round of the Lincoln Young Professional Group’s Entrepreneurial Speaker Series will feature Shane Thielen, one of the few intellectual property attorneys in the city. SPN followers may recall that Jay Wilkinson, CEO of Firespring, addressed entrepreneurs during the last speech in the series.

The Lincoln YPG had this to say about the upcoming event:

In an economy increasingly based on businesses developing and selling non-tangible products like software, services, and information – intellectual property protection can be a key success factor for a business. Patents, copyrights, trade marks and trade secrets are all important business assets that can be used to start or strengthen a business.

BECOME A SPONSOR

Can I patent my invention or program? How do I keep others from using my software? What does it take to get a trademark? How to protect your business ideas from competitors?

Join us at the Grand Manse (129 N 10th St) on Tuesday, September 8th to hear about how intellectual property management can help you and ask questions from an intellectual property lawyer.

Our speaker is Shane Thielen, an attorney from Baylor Evnen law firm specializing in business and intellectual property. He will give an overview of patents, copyrights and trademarks. He will also be telling us what mistakes he has seen – which hurt businesses and will be taking questions from the group.

NOTE THE NEW TIME: Doors open at 5:00 for drinks – program to begin at 5:30.
