IMG_5359Last night’s Creative Capital Pitch Session in Lincoln brought about 60 people to Turbine Flats to watch our eight contestants pitch their ideas in five minutes or less. Ideas ranged from a ratings website for senior care facilities to a social network for entrepreneurs, but they all had one thing in common: the presenters had a passion for their idea. It was awesome to see, and with BarCamp Omaha this weekend and more events like this in the works, I look forward to what’s ahead.

The venue for the contest was very cool. Matthew Wegener opened Turbine Flats a couple years ago to give space to entrepreneurs and innovators in the Lincoln area. Located just down the street from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, it’s evident Matthew’s space isn’t just strengthening the entrepreneurial aspirations of graduates but undergraduates, as well. It was great to see two UNL students pitch their ideas last night.

To see clips from the three finalists’ pitches as well as an interview with each, check out the video below. You’ll also see an interview with the event’s MC, Ali Schwanke, and one of the event organizers, Kevin Hagemoser.

The second video is with Dan Hoffman of Invest Nebraska. Dan and his team are big supporters of what we do and we appreciate their involvement immensely. Invest Nebraska is the one to thank for the $1,000 prize.
