Everyone at Silicon Prairie News, Technology Association of Iowa and Paragon IT Professionals is excited about the response the first Creative Capital Pitch Session in Des Moines has received! In all, we received 22 submissions from 17 individuals or teams from four states. This is more entries than any previous pitch session event and a great showing for the region’s creative class.
It was very tough to choose, with ideas ranging from leveraging social media for social good to finding a more convenient spot to check your coat, we wished we could’ve let in more than eight. We hope to see those that weren’t selected this time submit again in a future pitch session.
Drum roll please.
Congratulations to Bill Claman, Alexander Grgurich, Ken Hill, Jonathan Koomjian, Abbie Shipton, Jon Thompson, and the teams of Joshua & Kendall Stewardson and Eric Crawford, Thad Reeves and Caleb Ralston!

Join us next Thursday, January 28, to see these contestants pitch their ideas live in five minutes or less. After a short break, judges will narrow the pool to the three best pitches and ask a question of each. In the end, it will be up to the audience to decide the winner by placing their ballot, which will be handed out that night, into one of three boxes. Once votes have been tallied, the winner will be presented with a $1,000 check from Paragon IT Professionals.
The event will be held at Dos Rios, 316 Court Avenue. Doors open at 6 p.m., competition begins at 6:30.
