Thursday, 6 p.m. – Make It Happen – Student Quick Pitch Competition

Memorial Stadium – West Stadium Club (Stadium Drive and T Street), Lincoln

Competitor sign-in is from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Pitches begin at 6 p.m.

Each presenter will have three minutes to engage and enlighten the judges. There will be an additional three minutes to answer one question from the judging panel. Following the selection of the winner from their track (there will be six tracks); the judges will spend a few minutes providing feedback to the group as a whole. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winner of each track.

This is truly an opportunity to embrace and expand the entrepreneurial spirit that is alive and well in Nebraska. Entrepreneurship education can lay the ground work, but it is the interaction and the examples set by the community that will help to grow the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Drinks and snacks will be served at 6:30 followed by the formal program at 7:30 p.m.

Matt Galligan, CEO and co-founder of SimpleGeo will be our guest speaker for the night. SimpleGeo is based out of Boulder, Colorado and provides comprehensive solutions to enable location-based services in mobile, web and desktop applications. Matt previously founded Socialthing, a company that was chosen to be part of the inaugural year of TechStars. Socialthing.com went into private beta in March, 2008 at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. The company was acquired five months later by AOL.

Matt Galligan, CEO and co-founder of SimpleGeo, will teach attendees how businesses can define efforts to reach the growing demographic of people using smart phones to not only communicate, but to shop, review products and more.
