At last Thursday’s Greater Omaha Young Professionals Summit I tracked down two of the individuals behind the two most common phrases of the event: the Twitter hashtag #YourSeat2010 and the blue signs and stickers touting I live in Omaha.

First up, Mark Pohl, the chair of this year’s Summit and an employee of the Omaha Public Power District.

Mark told me that this year’s Summit steering committee choose the theme “Your Seat at the Table” because they felt that this was the year to take action. “For quite a few years,” he explained, “we’ve talked about what we want Omaha’s vision to be in the year 2020, and really this year was bringing that talk and turning it into action.”

Additionally, he gave me summaries of the first two talks of the day, Patricia Martin on the re-branding of the “cultural consumers” and Blake Mycoskie on sustaining a business with more than a sales strategy.

He also talked about the conversations happening on RallyOmaha.com, a local social network for continued discussion on the 2020 vision, and Omaha Public Power District’s acceptance of this year’s Young Professionals Choice Award.

Next up, John Henry Müller of What Cheer, the boutique web design shop behind the grassroots I live in Omaha campaign.

John Henry shared with me the story of how he thought of the campaign and how they went about implementing it to attract the community and capture thoughts of individuals in a Twitter-like format. He also reflected on the positive reception it’s received in the city, especially by the Greater Omaha Chamber, which held the Summit.

He also provided us with an update of What Cheer and what we might see more of in the future from the I Live in Omaha campaign.
