There are two great meetup events happening on the prairie this week. The first in Ames and the second in Omaha.

Thursday, July 15, 12-1 p.m. – Ames I.T. Collaborative

Iowa State University Research Park Conference Room (2711 South Loop Drive)

The idea for Ames I.T. Collaborative (the best name we can come up with at the moment) came out of discussions among some of us at this year’s Ames Ignite Event. Stephen Gilbert, Steve Carter, Alison Doyle, Allen Bierbaum and Dave Tucker have discussed the idea getting the IT community of Ames together in an informal setting to enable collaboration and better understand what each other is doing.

At the Ames Ignite event, Allen and Dave realized that we are trying to solve many similar problems and are trying to learn many of the same technologies. We want to find out if there are others out there who would like to share experiences with new technologies and participate in a forum where we can all better understand what is going on in the Ames IT / Tech Community.

Thursday, July 15, 4:30-6:30 p.m. – Beer & Blog Omaha

Brazen Head Irish Pub (319 N 78th South)

Omaha Beer & Blog meets on the first and third Thursday of the month at Brazen Head Irish Pub from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The goal of these meetups is to share tips and favorite blogs, discuss blog posts, and, most of all, enjoy each other’s company.

Regulars: Make sure to note the time change. Co-organizer Antri Pavka and I moved it from 4 to 4:30 p.m.

To learn more about Beer & Blog Omaha, visit omaha.beerandblog.com. Anitra does a great job of explaining the meetup, recapping meetups and compiling a blogroll of attendee blogs.
