After success with a Mac OS X desktop widget called QuickCal – 10,000+ downloads and mention on the popular blog LifehackerJim Boutcher of Smelly Puppy is expanding his repertoire and is now offering an iPhone app called QuickCal Mobile ($0.99).

QuickCal takes natural language expressions describing calendar events or tasks and creates that event or task in iCal, with or without iCal open.

For example, if you entered, “jog Friday 7am for 45 min,” it’ll program it into iCal filling in the description, start, and end fields. (example left, taken from QuickCal listing in app store)

This is Boutcher’s second iPhone app. He released his first, Get Your Bearings, in November of last year.

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, QuickCal Mobile also earned a mention on Lifehacker: QuickCal Adds Calendar Events with Natural Language on iPhones.

If you’d like to check out QuickCal Mobile for yourself, you’re in luck. Boutcher has given us three free codes to hand out. Please leave a comment below expressing your interest in the app and you’ve earned one.

Here’s a screencast from Boutcher explaining the app:
