This coming November, the AIM Institute IT Leadership Academy will begin its third year. The program, which develops the management skills of current and future information technology (IT) managers, inspires participants to consider our region ripe for opportunity in the technology arena.

AIM created the Academy to help IT leaders fully leverage the talents and contributions of our local IT workforce. The program runs from November 2010 through May 2011 and consists of seven full-day sessions (one per month) covering the following topics: authentic leadership, creativity and innovation, communication skills, strategic planning, diversity / leading organizational change, talent management and self-management.

IT professionals representing over 10 companies, including AIM, Bass & Associates, and First Data, developed the program’s curriculum. To date, the Academy has graduated 50 students.

Here are a couple testimonials on the program from recent alumni:

The AIM IT Leadership Academy is an awesome experience for the IT professionals in a leadership role. The experience provides practical tools and techniques that, when applied, really help make the professional a more effective contributor to their respective organization. The networking opportunity is also highly valuable.

– Brian Asmus, IT Manager, First Data

The AIM IT Leadership Academy was a pivotal career experience. From the people with whom I developed relationships to the workshops to the interaction with the facilitators and cutting edge session content, it was definitely one of the most rewarding professional and personal experiences. Not only do you explore topics that will drive your professional growth, you tap into your personal strengths and potential as well. If an organization’s greatest asset is its people then an investment in the AIM IT Leadership Academy will help return handsome dividends.

– Nancy Williams, IT Director, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands

Applications for the upcoming Academy are due September 10. To learn more about the porgram, view its schedule and tuition costs, visit aiminstitute.org/it-leadership-academy.
