10. Analog the Prairie Dog

Part mascot, part icon, all Prairie Dog. Analog is our symbol to embody both tradition, innovation, and a little bit of fun on the Silicon Prairie and we’re thankful that he sticks around our little publication. Special thanks to Robert Murphy for naming the little fellow!

9. New Ideas

We’re inspired by the new ideas, projects, events, initiatives and companies that are launched almost every day within the Silicon Prairie. The buzz is infectious and seeing collaboration take place between members of the Silicon Prairie News tribe is tremendously encouraging and keeps us going.

8. Executors

There are new ideas and there are those who execute the new ideas. Both are important to the Silicon Prairie but the latter makes a much deeper impact on innovation within our region. Ideas are quickly becoming a dime a dozen while execution on ideas is a commodity.

7. The Big Omaha Community

It starts with the amazing speakers (Tony Hsieh, Dennis Crowley, Gary Vaynerchuk and many more) who have joined us in the past – some on their first trip to the Midwest – and continues on with the 500-plus participants who come in from around the country. Mix in a great host facility in KANEKO as well as the beautiful backdrop of the Old Market and we are very thankful for what the event has become.

6. Sponsors Who Support Our Events

Big Omaha, the Silicon Prairie Party at South by Southwest, the Creative Capital Pitch Sessions, and our various other events could not happen without the sponsors who willingly put their hard-earned money behind our ideas.

5. Support

The support of the great organizations who believe in our mission of promoting the Silicon Prairie as an innovation center, such as the AIM Institute, the Technology Association of Iowa, and the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, just to name a few.

4. The Entrepreneurial Community

The awesome entrepreneurial community in Omaha, Des Moines and everywhere in between that continually puts forth more startups with amazing technology. It would be difficult to continue the quantity and depth of stories without the amazing stories to tell.

3. Our Contributors

From Sioux Falls to Des Moines and more cities coming soon, we wouldn’t be able to highlight the entrepreneurial community across this great region without the help of these dedicated and passionate individuals.

2. Our Families

Our families for supporting us in this endeavour. Some of us have spouses, a couple of us have kids, and we all have families who support and put up with us staying out late at networking events to meet new people in the community, staying up late working on gathering information for stories and planning for events, and spending time away from home to visit places like Austin, Boulder, Tahoe, San Francisco, and New York to promote the Silicon Prairie News community. We’re especially thankful for you!

1. You!

Without you reading, sharing, emailing, tweeting, “liking” and spreading the word about the stories we share, Silicon Prairie News wouldn’t be where it is today. And for that, we are truly thankful for you.

Please take time to enjoy this day and tell those who are important in your life how much they mean to you and what makes them a special part of your life. Life is short and we should all strive to take at least one day to reflect on the good things in our life.
