Yesterday afternoon, I made a stop by Archrival‘s expanded and remodeled office (720 O Street) to catch up with co-founders Charles Hull and Clint! Runge for the first time since they were acquired by Dachis Group last month. I also received a tour of their new digs, which they moved into earlier this week.

The remodeled office, Hull said, was a team effort. Outside of painting the walls, everything else, from the redesigned layout to the moving of furniture, was done by the Archrival team. And that team, currently at 20, will have the possibility to grow in the expanded office as they went from 5,000 to 6,500 square feet.* The new space can accomodate up to 40 employees.

When getting the tour of their new office, it was easy to see that they didn’t take design details lightly, even going so far as to brand their own arcade game (see photo below). Although I never made a stop at their old office, which I’m now kicking myself for, Hull told me the arcade game replaced their former art installation of florecent lightbulbs standing upright like cornstalks. Nebraska Creative has a great picture of that old installation, see: necreative.typepad.com/photos/archrival.

Check out my photos below and follow the links to the photos of their old office which were posted on Nebraska Creative. As you look through the photos, remember that Archrival was founded by Hull and Runge in 1997 while the two were juniors in the Unversity of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Architecture. Needless to say, they’ve found an outlet for those skills.

The same address numbers.

But new signage in-line with their re-designed brand.

And more new signage which matches elements of their website, archrival.com.

Just inside the front door. Formerly, visitors were greeted by a desk constructed out of the front end of an old truck. (Old: necreative.typepad.com/photos/archrival)

Another view just inside the front door. Inside the door on the right is the to-be-finished conference room, which currently lacks a table. (Old: necreative.typepad.com/photos/archrival)

The Archrival-branded four-player arcade game which is loaded with a bunch of old school video games.

The side of the arcade game stating the focus of Archrival: youth marketing.

And an even closer look which shows the new Archrival “A.”

A look at the bookshelf and “trophy case” – they are aplenty.

And, of course, the Red Bull fridge – an example of Archrival’s past work includes Red Bull’s Facebook page.

Also worth noting, when speaking about their re-designed website that launched the same day as their acquisition announcement (November 17th), Hull assured me that there’s more than the one Easter egg that many have found – at bottom of archrival.com, under “Archrival On,” click “Hardcore Drugs” – in fact, he said there’s one that no one has found yet and that it’ll be a challenge to find (Who’s up for that challenge?).

*Update Friday, December 3, 10:15 a.m. – Square footage increase of 6,500 to 9,500 was incorrectly stated, updated increase of 5,000 to 6,500 square feet is correct.
