As we wrote about earlier this morning, we’ll begin to officially cover the news items coming out of Kansas City in a few weeks, but leading up to that launch, there are some items that can’t be let go. Earlier this week, Kauffman Foundation sent out a press release announcing one of those items – the inaugural class of the Kauffman Labs Education Ventures Program was announced.
For those unfamiliar with Kauffman, it’s the world’s largest foundation devoted to entrepreneurship and it’s headquartered in our own backyard, Kansas City. Needless to say, they continuously make a major impact on all levels of entrepreneurship. This past year on Silicon Prairie News, you may have read about their studies quoted in articles, their initiatives inspiring individuals worldwide, or their dollars making a significant impact on other organizations.
Kauffman Laboratories for Enterprise Creation is one of their more recent additions to their list of initiatives. Launched this past summer, their first class is devoted to high-growth, transformative companies in the education market. After a rigorous selection process, they’ve brought in 25 aspiring entrepreneurs representing 17 ideas to be immersed in an intensive, hands-on program. In their release, Kauffman described this program as “designed to catalyze the creation of high-growth companies to generate thousands of jobs with dramatic economic benefits in the education sector.”
