Despite the fact that here at Silicon Prairie News we’re very much in the midst of preperations for Big Omaha 2011 one of our favorite parts of Big Omaha 2010 keeps showing up in the news. We ran two posts this week telling the story of Nathan Hidajat, a second grader in Ames, Iowa who was motivated to give up his 8th birthday to help provide clean and safe drinking water after watching Scott Harrison of charity: water present at Big Omaha.

President Obama recently took note of Harrison’s work, too, and spoke about it at the National Prayer Breakfast. After enumerating the success that charity: water has had thus far as well as the goals they have the future, the President gave words of encouragement to not only the other Nathan Hidajat’s of this country but to all of us:

“That’s the kind of promoting we need more of, that’s the kind of faith that moves mountains…people taking it upon themselves to make a difference.”
