While preparing to give my “lightning talk” at last night’s meetup of Hacks/Hackers Heartland – an Omaha group I encourage you to check out – I noticed that we’ve made quite a few changes at Silicon Prairie News since our second editor, Michael Stacy, came on board March 1. And as we’ve implemented those changes, our activities haven’t slowed down. After we launched the Kansas City edition on Michael’s first day, Michael and I embarked on a Silicon Prairie roadtrip, attending the Dwolla meetup in Iowa on the next night and then returning to Omaha for the Omaha Chamber’s Young Professionals Summit the following day.

After a full week in the office, most of the team took off again for the annual South by Southwest Interactive for five days, and upon return we buried our head in Big Omaha preparations (look for speakers to be released early next week). Now, we’re all back in the office, all recovered from the exhaustion of SXSW and all implementing new processes and responsibilities into our workflow.

My role of managing editor is changing as I hand over responsibility of day-to-day content production and contributor communication to Michael. I’ll continue to be heavily involved in content, but I’m stepping away from writing every day in order to focus on the events we produce.

With the transition of responsibility, we’ve fallen behind on covering important stories and product launches. We’ll be getting caught up in the weeks to come, but please know that if you’ve emailed us a pitch, we’ve received it and will be following up if appropriate. And please, keep them coming.

From now on, if you have a pitch, press release, story idea, etc., please email editor@siliconprairienews.com.

Also, if you haven’t read one of Michael’s posts yet, you can find a link to them and learn more about Michael on his contributor page. In the three weeks he’s been here, I think he’s already raised the bar for our content quality, putting out excellent profile pieces like his story on Calvin Pappas and recapping events such as Corey Booker at the YP Summit.
