The first full week of summer is shaping up to be a fairly quiet one on the Silicon Prairie, with only one event on the radar. On Tuesday, Startup Drinks Des Moines will welcome the startup community to wash a few down and talk shop about what’s going on in the local startup world.

Details from the event websites are below followed by links to sites where you can learn more. Find more upcoming events on our event page, siliconprairienews.com/events, and submit an event for consideration to info@siliconprairienews.com.

Thursday, 6:30 p.m. – Cornstalks*

Omaha – Chamber’s Downtown Office (1301 Harney St.)

John Grange of PowerDNN and of Layered Innovations will be presenting.

John Grange is a 26 year old internet and technology entrepreneur from the Omaha area. He originally attended UNO and has a strong attachment to the school and its students. He is the sales side of PowerDNN and of Layered Innovations. Power DNN was the top DotNetNuke provider in the country during his tenure there. DotNetNuke is the leading Web Content Management Platform (or CMS) for Microsoft ASP.NET, powering over 600,000 production web sites worldwide. The flexible DotNetNuke open source CMS platform also functions as a web application development framework (from dotnetnuke.com). Layered Innovations is John’s most recent start-up which is still in stealth mode. However, what I can say is that he has established quality winning relationships with angels and has some keen insights into how to raise money and leverage angel and investor expertise to help his companies. Moreover, with his new company, Mr. Grange is taking a significant amount of his learning from PowerDNN and applying it to a totally new space. In his work, he has proven himself as a tremendous sales person – who was one of the top five users of Microsoft’s products via PowerDNN and a top user of Salesforce.com. If you want to understand how to scale and leverage technology infrastructure, Mr. Grange has shown his ability to do this in multiple occasions and with clear results.
