Red Nova Labs opens its doors (and beer fridge) to the startup community

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, Michael and I made a brief visit to Kansas City. Our objectives were twofold: visit a handful of companies and individuals on the first day (or in other words, whoever accepted our very short notice emails) and cover the Kauffman Labs Venture Showcase event on the second day.

Without planning, it just so happened the three companies we visited on Monday all have very cool office spaces: Red Nova LabsThink Big Partners and Zaarly. If you’re active in the KC startup community, you’ve likely stumbled into one of the first two thanks to community events, and if you haven’t found an excuse to stop by Zaarly’s recently opened office, stay tuned to Silicon Prairie News as we’ll be posting a photo walkthrough next week.

If you’d like to check out Red Nova Labs, a cross between a service and product startup, you’ll have that opportunity tomorrow and every other Friday going forward through their biweekly event, Venture Fridays. Now, if I had planned smarter, I would have rearranged my travel schedule for this: from 4 to 6 p.m. in the basement of their office (4830 Rainbow Blvd), Red Nova Labs provides a few drinks and some snacks for the centerpiece of quality networking between individuals in the tech entrepreneur community.

To learn more and to RSVP for tomorrow’s event, which according to the company’s Twitter account will feature demos from themselves and Vicitiny Games, check out meetup.com/venturefridays. From their Meetup page:

Venture Fridays is a simple but fun concept: The web/tech/app/game/mktg startup culture of Kansas City and surrounding areas is invited to gather at our private in-office lounge to discuss what we’re all thinking about, working on, needing help with, and might do for each other. Existing or aspiring entrepreneurs in web/tech/app/game/mktg of all types and ages are invited. Let’s raise our glasses to building the entrepreneurial culture beyond ourselves.

Doors are open for this select gathering (officially a “private party”) on Rainbow Boulevard (Westwood KS) 4 to 6 p.m. every other Friday afternoon through August 2011. Who are your hosts? We’re a web marketing metacompany, still whiffing the baby powder of our start in 2009. We work hard, and we play hard. Sometimes Venture Fridays will be co-located with other events, sometimes not. Either way, we’ll be here drinking and thinking. Will you? Drop in.

To get an idea of what goes down at Venture Fridays, here are few photos from their Meetup page (all taken by Mia Iverson of Red Nova Labs).
