A few weeks ago, I wrote about the simple yet effective tool called The Hello Bar. Deemed the “fun, unobtrusive yet highly visible bar that sits at the top of your website and is a great way to engage users and get them to take immediate action,” The Hello Bar is back with the release of The Hello Bar Pro.

Chuck Longanecker, Digital Telepathy CEO and founder of The Hello Bar, reached out to me to let me know about the release of The Hello Bar Pro. Longanecker summarized the goal over email by stating that his company has focused on empowering users to increase their clickthrough rates and improve their message with A/B testing and advanced statistics.

A brief look at the new Pro features:

  • A/B Testing (message, link, colors…etc)
  • Advanced stats (all date ranges, A/B results)
  • Dynamic Hello Bars (from RSS feeds)
  • No Branding or link to Hello Bar
  • Up to 10 Hello Bars (Free = three)
  • Always on top (Hello Bar stays on top when you scroll)

My favorite angle to this story is the way Longanecker and the Digital Telepathy team allowed users to dictate the direction of the product. As mentioned in the original article, The Hello Bar was invite only, and the production team used their loyal set of users to learn what features they need with The Hello Bar. Hello Bar users got an email asking to check the features they wanted most and choose a price range that seemed reasonable. This is another classic example of building a minimum viable product (MVP) and then allowing the community or user base shape the evolution.

The Hello Bar Pro is an upgrade that costs $25 per month, but Longanecker again offered the Silicon Prairie community a free, 14-day trial with the code SPN. Simply click here and enter the code to try out The Hello Bar Pro.
