This week’s events on the Prairie all center around food and fellowship. On Wednesday, the Software and Information Technology Association of Kansas (SITAKS) will host a Lunch and Learn in Wichita, and on Thursday the Technology Association of Iowa will be in Iowa City for TechBrew. On Friday, we close the week with one of the staples to this year’s summer events lineup, Venture Friday at Red Nova Labs.
Details from the event websites are below, followed by links to sites where you can learn more. Find more upcoming events on our event page, siliconprairienews.com/events, and submit an event for consideration to info@siliconprairienews.com.
Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – SITAKS Lunch & Learn: Promoting a Culture of Execution
Wichita, Kansas – National Center for Aviation Training (4004 N. Webb Road)
In this Lunch & Learn we will explore an uncommon approach to creating a culture of execution. For example, in contrast to reasonable and achievable goals we will look at the merits of a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal). And in contrast to having leaders tell employees about the goals and strategies, we will explore the idea of asking employees what they think of the BHAG, and inviting them to contribute their own ideas on how to achieve it.
Thanks to our sponsor
Nonmember – $15.00 and SITAKS Member – $10.00

Friday, 4 p.m. – Venture Fridays
Westwood, Kan. – Offices of Red Nova Labs (4830 Rainbow Boulevard)
Ready to come out of the entrepreneurial closet and meet like-minds in KC?
Red Nova Labs is pleased and eager to be part of a Midwest startup “uprising” proving that web/tech/app/game/mktg advances and success do not solely happen in the well-funded ‘burbs of Silicon Valley. Being a web/tech/app/game/mktg startup in the Midwest isn’t an easy feat. By bringing knowledge of technology startups to the farmbelt, we hope support a future beyond our own. That’s why we’re hosting “Venture Fridays.”
