On Sunday, Startup Weekend concluded its highest attended event to date. Appropriately named “Mega Startup Weekend,” it brought together more than 300 participants to compete for a spot on stage at the DEMO conference in Silicon Valley.

Back here in Silicon Prairie, organizers are preparing to kick off this weekend’s event that’s unofficially serving as the start of the region’s “Startup Weekend Season.” From today through November 13, four Startup Weekends will be taking place – Omaha, Iowa City, Iowa, Columbia, Missouri and Kansas City.

The video below, which was produced by the event’s sponsor Microsoft Bizspark, showcases the energy and passion of the Mega Startup Weekend attendees, but also calls out that incredible focus of entrepreneurs.

“What you see in an entrepreneurs eyes is an unbelievable drive to create something new where there was nothing,” Scott Case, CEO of Startup America Partnership said. “And that is what drives innovation and excitement for entrepreneurs here, who are running around at Startup Weekend right now.”

We encourage you to go witness that innovation and excitement first hand. If you haven’t signed up to participate and you still want in, you can register at omaha.startupweekend.com/register. If you’re interested in the event for the first time or are just looking to boost your energy level this weekend, stop by the venue and pop your head in to get a sense of what’s taking place. Or, wait until Sunday evening when the ideas will be turned into prototypes and the teams will pitch them in a competition-style format.

Also, we’re especially delighted to share this video as it features one of our announced Thinc Iowa speakers, Scott Case of Startup America Partnership.
