Pipeline isn’t just coming to Nebraska; it’s holding a housewarming party, and all the new neighbors are invited.

Pipeline, a five-year-old, Kansas-based fellowship for innovative, high-growth entrepreneurs, is hosting a happy hour from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Friday at Urban Wine Company (1037 Jones St.). Pipeline CEO Joni Cobb and a smattering of current and past participants from the program will join local partners in celebrating Pipeline’s expansion to Nebraska and providing more information about the program for local entrepreneurs interested in applying. (Left: a flyer for the event, from Pipeline on Facebook.)

Friday’s event follows the Oct. 4 announcement that Pipeline will include Nebraska in its first regional class, for which applications are due on Oct. 24. As we reported in April, Pipeline is expanding its focus from Kansas to a larger region because of budget cuts in Kansas and a subsequent $800,000 challenge grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Cobb said that when Pipeline looked across the region, proponents of the program in Nebraska made expanding to the state an easy choice.

“They just really were very aggressive about being part of this conversation and the expansion,” Cobb said by phone last week. “It’s been great working with them.”

BECOME A SPONSOR

Pipeline is currently accepting applications for its 2012 class. Ideal candidates for the program are already running their venture and entering a phase during which a year of intensive resources, skill-building and networks would accelerate the growth and scaling of that venture. There is no revenue or industry requirement, but applicants must be willing to invest time and effort in the fellowship. More on the preferred criteria for applicants, specifics on what the fellowship entails and the benefits of the fellowship can be found on Pipeline’s application page

See the video at the bottom of this post, courtesy of Cobb, for past and current Pipeline entrepreneurs welcoming Nebraska to the fold. And, once more, check below for the details for Friday’s happy hour:
