Recorded Friday, October 21. This is the Livestream version, look for the final cut from Event1 Video to be published in the coming weeks.

The inaugural Thinc Iowa conference provided an arena for conversation on the common ground between established corporations and startups. Nine speakers, ranging from the founder of a new payments network to the chairman of a worldwide advertising network, took the stage Friday at the Temple for Performing Arts in downtown Des Moines to contribute to that conversation.

To be timely, we’re releasing the entire Thinc Iowa Video Series this week as recorded via Livestream. Thanks to the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, a Kansas City-based foundation that works to harness the power of entrepreneurship and innovation, for sponsoring the Livestream and Video Series, and to our video and post-production team made up of Event1 Video and Evolve. The fifth speaker in our Video Series is Jerri Chou, founder and managing partner of Lovely Day, which works to make innovative social solutions the new standard for “business as usual.” A social innovation expert, Chou also founded All Day Buffet, an organization whose mission is to change the world through creativity and business, as well as The Feast Social Innovation Conference and TBD.

In her talk, Chou discussed the forces driving a worldwide paradigm shift and how that global change is empowering entrepreneurs and innovators.

“It means,” Chou said of the shift, “there’s a big opportunity for business to work with these people — with entrepreneurs, with individuals — to create value together. So there’s a shift from, you know, just producing a product or service to working with other people to either create that product, services around it, and just create value together.”
