We’re less than 20 days away from the inaugural Thinc Iowa event, and we’re starting to experience a familiar surge of energy. As we felt with our first Big Omaha conference in 2009, we’re overloaded with excitement and anticipation for what we’re bringing to Iowa. As we inch closer to Oct. 21, we are channeling this momentum and are thrilled to announce the newest speakers to our lineup.

The first presenter we’re thrilled to announce is Jerri Chou. We first came across Jerri a few years ago for her work alongside Michael Karnjanaprakorn for All Day Buffet, an organization whose mission is to change the world through creativity and business.

Chou is an expert on social innovation and in addition to All Day Buffet, she’s also co-founded The Feast Social Innovation Conference and TBD. She is also the head strategist at Lovely Day and works to make innovative social solutions the new standard for “business as usual.” You can find her on Twitter, @jchou.

The ideas she will share with us are sure to make us question the approach we’ve traditionally taken and encourage an entirely new way of doing business. An approach towards social innovation is one that both startups and corporations can help continue developing, and Chou will share with us best practices from some of the industries and companies with which she has worked.

We’re also very excited to welcome Luke Vandermillan, an executive with The Principal Financial Group, to the speaker lineup! We were very excited to announce the The Principal’s involvement in Thinc Iowa as a sponsor a little over a week ago, and we couldn’t be more excited that Luke has agreed to share his insights from the corporate perspective at the event. The Principal is one of the area’s most iconic large corporations, headquartered in the Des Moines’ tallest building at 801 Grand. Luke’s talk will include what The Principal has learned by working with small businesses nationwide in recognizing its annual “Principal’s 10 Best” companies.
