Following our post in July reporting that Google Transit wasn’t in the plans for Omaha’s public transit system, Metro, we published an update correcting our story and breaking the news that the service would go live in September. Now, as we near the end of October, Google Transit has yet to be implemented with Metro. (Left, screenshot from Google Transit.)
In an email yesterday, Metro planning assistant Evan Schweitz said that Metro has been working with Google on resolving a few remaining issues, and that Metro is hoping to resolve these issues by the end of this week. From there, Schweitz said the timeline depends on how quickly Metro’s submission is approved by Google, which he said has taken anywhere from one to three weeks. Realistically, he said he’s hoping for implementation by the end of November.
