We’re seeking a hungry sales professional who loves the startup community in the Silicon Prairie. This is a full-time position, based in either Des Moines, Iowa or Omaha, Nebraska. Compensation consists of a base salary and commission.

Silicon Prairie News (SPN) interviews the region’s leading entrepreneurs and creatives, reports on startups and established companies, announces events and produces its own events, such as Big Omaha and Thinc Iowa. SPN is a growing company and considers itself a startup like the companies it covers. Learn more about SPN on our about page.

Sounds great, right?

First, ask yourself two questions:

Are you qualified?

  • Yes, I have a big interest in technology, the commercial web and growing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Silicon Prairie
  • Yes, I love siting down with community leaders, entrepreneurs, professors and investors and talking about ways to build the Silicon Prairie
  • Yes, I’m comfortable picking up the phone and selling across a wide variety of industries and geographies
  • Yes, I love to build relationships with key players in startups and established corporations
  • Yes, I’m known to exercise good judgement and love the idea of managing specific sales goals
  • Yes, I can work successfully on my own, but also see value in being part of a team
  • Yes, I thrive in an environment open to new ideas and will commit to bringing new ideas and opportunities to the table

Are you excited about the responsibilities?

  • Yes, I’d love to play a role by working in each of SPN’s markets – Omaha, Des Moines and Kansas City
  • Yes, I’m excited about the opportunity to work with national and international organizations
  • Yes, I love the diversity of sales opportunities which include online advertising, event sponsorships and job postings
