This post might fit better under a series titled Wednesday Queasy than our new occasional series Wednesday Whimsy.

Archrival, a Lincoln-based youth marketing firm, has a knack for strengthening brands, building buzz and churning out award-winning designs. Now, it can add creating suspense to that list, as well.

In a video posted on Friday, Archrival creative director Clint! Runge stands on a desk with X-ACTO knife in hand and says, “Here’s what we got, Gibson is going to allow us to air-drop the X-ACTO knife onto…well, around his hand.

“We’re giving him two dollars per foot that he allows us to go up.”

It’s a daring act that – I won’t spoil it for you – must be viewed to be believed. After the video was posted on Reddit, one of the web’s most popular social news sites, it hit the site’s coveted front page. As of today, the video has received more than 43,000 views.

Check out the video below to see what happens. And to see what Archrival employees are up to the other 39 hours of their week, view the company’s portfolio on archrival.com.

The two other Archrival employees behind the video, Dan Gibson, who was the subject of the knife drop, and Kyle Stebbins, who recorded it, were interviewed by the web show Right This Minute. To watch the interview, visit rightthisminute.com or click the image below.

Also worth noting, this isn’t the first time Archrival has hit the front page of Reddit with its antics. In April, the same guy that dropped the knife snapped a “MySpace style” photo of himself after losing a bet. The result was pretty epic.
