The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation will host its third annual State of Entrepreneurship Address on Feb. 9 to explore methods of promoting entrepreneurship, sparking innovation and accelerating economic growth through changes in state law and policy.
The event will be held in Washington, D.C., but it will have a distinct Silicon Prairie flavor — the Kauffman Foundation, of course, is based in Kansas City, Mo., and the event will feature remarks from Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman.
Benno Schmidt (below, far left), the interim president of the Kauffman Foundation, will present the State of Entrepreneurship Address. Entitled “A Roadmap for State Growth,” Schmidt’s talk will focus on effective, low-cost ways of promoting entrepreneurship and innovation at the state level.
Heineman (near left), who serves as chair of the National Governors Association, will speak on behalf of the organization. The schedule also calls for a panel discussion featuring Jack Markell, Governor of Delaware and vice chair of the National Governors Association, and other state policy experts.

The event, which begins at 11 a.m. Central time, is invitation-only. But Silicon Prairie News plans to provide a live stream of the talks and publish Kauffman Foundation reports that are central to the day’s discussion, so stay tuned here on Feb. 9 for more.
