David Milligan (left), founding partner of Advent IP and co-founder of Leap Ventures, will present at this month’s meeting of Cornstalks, which takes place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at CAMP Coworking in the the Mastercraft Building (1111 N. 13th St.).

More on Milligan, courtesy of the Advent IP website:

David is a founding partner of Advent IP, and a co-founder of Leap Ventures, an early stage concept accelerator. Prior to moving home to Nebraska in 2006, David spent a decade in Washington, DC learning how best to assist innovators in protecting and leveraging their ideas. He has worked with a full spectrum of individuals and entities–from entrepreneurs and start-ups to Fortune 100 companies–to prepare and prosecute domestic and international patent applications in a wide range of technical fields, including software and web technologies, life sciences, medical devices, and the chemical and mechanical arts.

David’s experience provides him a unique perspective on intellectual property protection and patent practice. His innovation consulting services tightly fit the needs of start-up and early stage organizations interested in building an effective patent portfolio that complements and supports strategic innovation efforts. His approach to intellectual property protection also scales to established entities looking to create and expand their patent efforts.

David currently serves on the boards of directors of InvestNebraska, the Nebraska Entrepreneurship Center, and the Colonial Williamsburg National Advisory Board.

In 2011, David was selected by the Midlands Business Journal as a member of its 10th annual 40 Under 40 class, a group of 40 of the greater Omaha area’s top entrepreneurs, executives and professionals under the age of 40.

Run by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, Cornstalks is a monthly forum for individuals interested in high-growth entrepreneurship. The event, which is free to attend, will begin with refreshments and networking at 6:30 and continues with Milligan’s presentation at 7:30.
