CityCamp, an international “unconference” series focused on innovation for municipal governments and community organizations, will make its Kansas City debut on April 28.

There’s a full schedule slated for the daylong event, which will begin at 8 a.m. and take place at OfficePort (208 W. 19th St.) in the Crossroads District of Kansas City, Mo. The day’s agenda includes Ignite Kansas City 2012, a series of interactive presentations, a hackathon, a keynote from mayors Sly James and Joe Reardon, and an evening social event to cap it all off.

Like the CityCamps held elsewhere, the Kansas City event is focused on four main goals. Per the event’s website, those objectives are:

  1. Gather local government officials, municipal employees, experts, programmers, designers, citizens and journalists to share perspectives and insights about the cities in which they live
  2. Develop patterns for using the Web to facilitate local government transparency and effective local governance
  3. Foster communities of practice and advocacy on the role of the Web, mobile communication, online information, and open data in cities
  4. Create outcomes that participants will act upon after the event is over
Tickets to City Camp cost $25 (or $15 for students) and can be purchased on the event’s registration page. Stay tuned ot SPN for more coverage of the event.
