Startup Weekend will make its second appearance in middle Missouri Sept. 28-30.

Startup Weekend Columbia, a weekend-long event that, per its website, aims to teach “the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures,” will take place at Columbia’s Museao building (3500 Buttonwood Drive) the last weekend of September.

Like at other Startup Weekend events hosted across the region and around the world, participants in Columbia will spend 54 hours building the foundation of businesses. The event starts Friday evening, when participants gather and pitch ideas for companies. They spend Saturday and Sunday working in teams to build out a handful of those ideas. The weekend concludes when teams present to a panel of judges on Sunday night.

The first Startup Weekend Columbia produced Zapiernée Snapier — which after winning the Startup Weekend went on to be chosen for well-known seed accelerator Y Combinator. The startup received favorable ink in SPN’s look at startups to watch in 2012 and was subsequently the subject of a some favorable press from one national outlet.

Tickets for Startup Weekend Columbia cost $99 and can be purchased on the Startup Weekend Columbia Eventbrite page. Plenty of additional information is available on the event’s website
