The Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) will host a pair of Pitch and Grow events this month, providing entrepreneurs a chance to compete for cash and prizes as they pitch business ideas to a supportive audience of industry experts.

The first of those events, Pitch and Grow XI, will take place from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday at StartupCity Des Moines. There, competitors will vie for a $1,000 grand prize. Admission is free for students and costs $25 for everyone else. Online registration is available for both presenters and attendees.

Pitch and Grow XII runs from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 18 in Cedar Falls, at the Business and Community Services Building on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa. Admission is free for students and $15 for other attendees. The top prize at the event is an iPad. Registration for presenters and attendees can be completed online.

Presenters for both events must be approved by TAI. Registrants selected to present at either will be notified by TAI staff.

TAI touts Pitch and Grow as an opportunity for presenters to “gain momentum in taking your company to the next level, refine your pitch with little to no risk and network with and gain access to other talented people and ideas in an open environment.”

For guests, the event is designed to provide networking opportunities and offer a chance to learn new business ideas and strategies.
