Nebraska initiative seeks “Big Ideas” to transform the state

Forging Nebraska’s Future, an independent, long-term planning initiative, has put out a call for ideas that aim “to move our state forward and to create a better Nebraska for the next generation.” Individuals who would like to submit or “second” an idea can do so through Dec. 15 at NebraskaIdeas.com, a website built on the platform created by Omaha startup MindMixer.

After ideas are submitted, organizers of the initiative, which is sponsored and staffed by the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will narrow down the ideas and announce the “Best 100” in February 2013. Next, 3-5 ideas will be selected as “Big Ideas,” or ideas that organizers believe have the potential to transform the state. Lastly, the initiative’s advisory committee, in partnership with elected officials and other leaders, will develop and execute a plan to implement these “Big Ideas.”
