Today we’re excited to introduce our second sponsor among an amazing group of businesses whose support is making our full-time presence in Kansas City possible.

Polsinelli Shughart, recognized by The National Law Journal as one of the top 100 law firms in the country, has more than 600 attorneys in 16 cities across the U.S. Its Kansas City office is home to more than 250 of those attorneys, along with 300 support staff team members.

Polsinelli Shughart has been active in the Kansas City startup community for some time, and we’re encouraged to see them continue to engage on a greater level.

This sponsorship will help Silicon Prairie News as we hire full-time employees, expand our coverage and hold regular and major events in the Kansas City community.

Over the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Polsinelli Shughart’s Greg Kratofil (right). Through multiple conversation with him, I’ve learned of the excitement his firm has to be a launch partner of SPN in Kansas City.

I asked Greg, whose work with startups includes AgLocal, LockPath and RareWire, to share some of his thoughts for this post. Here’s what he had to say:

We strongly believe that technology innovation is the key to our future. The Silicon Prairie is the perfect place for today’s technology entrepreneur. Innovative ideas, strong work ethics, lower operating costs and business friendly state and local environments are just some of the things causing the explosion of activity in the Midwest. We want to continue to be at the forefront of this revolution.

However, this community needs a voice. A voice to champion new startups and their ideas. A voice to celebrate the success of local technology companies. A voice that can rally the community through its news and events. A voice that speaks and advocates for the entire region. The technology community has needed this voice, and from what I’ve seen, Silicon Prairie News can deliver in spades.

We are stronger together than we are separate. Their goal is to see the technology community partners continue working together. In order to continue the momentum, we need to break out of our silos and help improve, co-sponsor and co-promote programs and events. Greater collaboration will only improve the ecosystem.

It means a tremendous amount to have the support of Polsinelli Shughart involved in our efforts to help build the greater Kansas City startup community.
