The Nebraska Summit on Entrepreneurship returns to the Omaha metro April 12 with a new name, brand and speaker lineup. The conference is now called Intersect and in addition to its local slate of speakers, the organizers are also bringing in three presenters from outside of the region.
Venture capitalist, author and TechStars co-founder Brad Feld will kick off the seventh annual event with the morning keynote “Startup Communities.” Feld last year released a book with the same name, and has since toured the country—including a stop at Thinc Iowa 2012—to share his Boulder Thesis.
Janice Fraser, an entrepreneur and interaction designer hailing from the Bay Area, will deliver the lunch keynote, “Lean Startup,” and Ben Yoskovitz, the vice president of product at Nova Scotia, Canada-based GoInstant, will lead a session on lean analytics.
“Intersect is a good example of the type of event that adds to the startup community,” Feld (right) said in an Intersect press release. “By itself, it isn’t sufficient—it is just one of many things that needs to happen on a continual basis—but it’s a good example of an annual event that glues things together.”

Aside from the those three individuals,* the event boasts more than a dozen presenters in breakout sessions. Those sessions include:
- “Mentoring” – Joni Cobb, Pipeline
- “Pitching a Business” – Michael Wetta, Dundee Venture Capital
- “Transitioning Your Business” – Blake Lawrence, Hurrdat
- “Startup Talk” – Jeremy Shoemoney
- “Preparation Tips for an Angel Funding Ask” – Karen Linder, Linseed Capital
Intersect will also feature an area called “Startup Village.” In this zone, Nebraska startups can take advantage of free exhibit space and a stage with opportunities to pitch and get feedback.
The day-long conference is hosted by the University of Nebraska‘s NUtech Ventures, UNeMed and other startup-focused groups.
Tickets to the event, which takes place at Embassy Suites, cost $50 ($10 for students) and can be purchased at unl.edu.
Update April 1 — Previously, Hudl co-founder David Graff was listed as a keynote speaker. Intersect organizers, however, have informed us Graff had a scheduling conflict arise.
