Cloud computing infrastructure provider Appcore, which earned the top spot last year on Five Elms Capital‘s list of “fastest-growing companies in the middle of the country,” announced today in a press release that it closed a $6 million Series B round. The new capital comes from private investors and existing investor Telephone Acquisition Company, an investment company owned by a group of Midwest-based telephone companies.

The five-year-old company, which has raised $11 million to date, will use the new funds to continue global expansion of its local cloud deployments, according to the release. In addition to the company’s Des Moines headquarters, which the Des Moines Register reports employs 100 people, Appcore lists offices in Hong Kong, Manila and Singapore.

New funds also will be put toward continued development of Appcore software that compliments its cloud and data center offerings.

“This financing sets us up for additional investments in research and development to enhance our product while expanding to provide local cloud infrastructure to other regions around the globe,” CEO Brian Donaghy said in the release.

Although cloud computing and data centers aren’t a regular focus on Silicon Prairie News, Appcore has grabbed our attention several times because of its fast growth. The company picked up coverage today from the Des Moines Register, TechCrunch and GigaOm.
