The women won, in a way, at the Hack of the Sexes hackathon last Friday and Saturday. But it was much more about the two sexes coming together to create tech solutions for civic problems. Kelly Tomlinson, a web designer at Cremalab, led the grand-prize winning team with two other women and one man. Their app, The GiveBack, links volunteers with local opportunities and tracks their hours. Tomlinson may be getting used to winning hackathons. Her team’s app, Wazoo, won Startup Weekend Kansas City last November. — Source: Kansas City Business Journal
