Classes may be out for the summer, but Dwolla is bringing teachers, students and administrators back together for its second Des Moines hackathon.

At the event, Hack to School, teachers and students will be paired with programmers and developers to create solutions for challenges in the academic sphere. From 8 a.m. on June 1 to 5 p.m. on June 2 (canceled), developers will have 36 hours to build their solution and get ready to present by Sunday evening.
Dwolla’s first hackathon in Des Moines last December featured unique prizes, such as a cow, a pig and a rooster. And it looks like prizes for the startup’s second hackathon are no different: rumor has it the first place winner could drive home in an old school bus (though the winner can also opt for the cash equivalent).
On June 1, more than 72 other cities will join Des Moines for National Day of Civic Hacking, a collaborative event that challenges programmers to create technology-based solutions to national social problems.
