Ecommerce startup Goodsmiths today introduced Swipe, an app that allows its online shop owners to accept credit card payments offline while keeping their online inventory synced.

“It’s a totally new product that honestly for us, for Goodsmiths, it’s going to disrupt the craft fairs, art shows, farmers’ markets, all of that,” the company’s co-founder and CEO James Eliason said last September in an interview with Silicon Prairie News.

The new addition to the one-year-old “marketplace for makers” comes just in time for craft show season, Eliason (right) said today in a press release. “We recognized a market opportunity at the Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago last September,” he said. “Artisans love keeping their lives simple while they are selling their wares.”

Swipe is available to those who pay for Goodmith’s $12 per month “Rockstar” plan, it’s costliest plan. No Goodsmiths fees are attached to the app, though there is a 2.69 percent processing fee from PayAnywhere, the credit card reader used by the app.

The app is currently only available for download on iOS devices, but an Android version is in the works.

Since its launch in April 2012, Goodsmiths has grown to serve more than 5,000 shops and more than 40,000 users. At the end of March, Goodsmiths announced the rollout of pay models and promoted items.
