Cosmic Cart is an e-commerce platform that allows users to consolidate their online shopping cart.

One common trait among the most successful startups that come out of the Midwest is their founding team’s ability to attract attention from New York to San Francisco and everyone in between. And for one Straight Shot startup, Cosmic Cart, that trait is shining through.

Cosmic Cart has created the “universal shopping cart”—an e-commerce platform that consolidates fragmented shopping carts across the web while enhancing the shopping experience for customers. Simply put, the startup lets shoppers buy the products they want from the content they love.

Cosmic Cart allows publishers to monetize their media and retailers to sell their products more effectively. Currently, more than 85 brands, six top fashion bloggers and five major retailers have signed on with Cosmic Cart.

And the startup has already been backed by some of the heavyweights in the fashion e-commerce industry, including Gilt‘s Keith George; Blair Eadie, blogger and editor of Atlantic-Pacific; and Fadi Shuman, CEO and co-founder of Pod1

“Our advisors are at the top of their game and we’re thankful they see Cosmic Cart’s potential,” said founder Alex Adelman.

Adelman and his founding team have been tenacious about expanding their network of support and are constantly on the go between the east and west coasts.

Trips to the Garment District of Manhattan are mainstays on Adelman’s calendar. In fact, he and co-founder Pearson Cunningham will travel to Manhattan for Advertising Week Wednesday. The two will meet with major brands, bloggers and media from across the world.

Dundee Venture Capital principal Michael Wetta describes Adelman as the ultimate entrepreneur: “He has no fear about making new connections. He can walk up to anyone and spark a conversation that leaves the other person enthused.”

North Carolina natives, Adelman and Cunningham relocated to Omaha in July to join Straight Shot’s inaugural class. Meanwhile, their grey-haired—as they lovingly refer to him—CTO and co-founder Matt Senter remains in Durham, N.C., to work on some final tweaks to Cosmic Cart’s technology.

Catch Cosmic Cart’s debut during the inaugural Straight Shot Demo Day on October 3.
