On September 19, turnstone’s Small Talks series brings funding issues to the forefront in Kansas City.

Small Talks by turnstone are far from small. In fact, they are turning heads and making waves across the nation as a grassroots way for entrepreneurs to connect around the issues most pressing to small-business owners and startups. Small Talks not only provide a safe venue for open dialogue and discussion, but reinforce the idea that individual business owners are not the only ones asking tough questions. Chances are their neighbors are asking them, too, and turnstone would like to help them find answers that make sense.

Because of the overwhelming feedback we’ve received, we’re happy to announce Small Talks will be coming to Kansas City on Thursday, September 19, at Google Fiber Space in collaboration with Homes for Hackers. The free event will center around the important topic of funding. Among other things, we will discuss which paths are available to startups and how to access the best fit for you.

Mary Tran of turnstone says, “We hear it all the time—accessing capital is one of the biggest impediments for many small businesses.” That’s why Homes for Hackers has invited panelists Dundee Venture Capital, Mid-America Angels, the Missouri Bank and Trust and Game Console Worldwide—a successful crowdfunder—to join.

“People say Kansas City has a problem with its entrepreneurial funding sources being so fragmented,” said Ben Barreth, Homes for Hackers founder. So we’ve brought together four different funding sources on a panel to help get the ball rolling.”

If you’re interested in finding funding for your small business or startup, we’d love to have you take part in this Small Talks. Because there are only 220 spaces available, we encourage you to register today. However, if you can’t travel to join us, you can take advantage of turnstone’s live Google Hangout on Air so you don’t miss a thing.

turnstone would also like to extend an invitation to all interested members of the community to attend an open house immediately following Small Talks at the newly outfitted Feld Fiberhouse, owned by famed entrepreneur, investor and TechStars founder Brad Feld. Featuring a fresh makeover from turnstone, the house anchors a vibrant entrepreneurial fiberhood on par with our vibrant textiles and designs. This also is one of the first homes in the country to get Google Fiber. We hope you can join us!
