Next Wednesday, Oct. 23, reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian will be making a stop in Lincoln as part of a five-month tour to promote his book, Without Their Permission.

Wednesday evening Ohanian will make an appearance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The free event will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Raikes School’s Kauffman Center Great Hall, and registration is available online.

Over the course of his five-month trip, Ohanian will visit 65 colleges and universities across the country to promote Internet entrepreneurship. However, his speaking engagements will be far from traditional author readings.

“The week before each college visit, I’ll jump on the college’s subreddit to source what you want me to discuss in my keynote the following week at your campus,” Ohanian wrote on his blog. “I’ll talk about anything you upvote most—seriously—and take your questions on stage for an AMA IRL. After that, because author readings are silly (if you wanna hear me read my own book just listen to the audio book) I’m bringing back an alum of your school so I can interview him or her about all the awesome stuff s/he’s done online since graduating.”

The UNL alum who will appear onstage with Ohanian has not yet been announced. A similar event is being planned at the University of Iowa for February 21, 2014. For a complete schedule of appearances, visit the tour’s website.

Ohanian also will be participating in a discussion with Hudl CPO John Wirtz Wednesday afternoon.

Last fall, the Internet 2012 Bus Tour made four stops across the Silicon Prairie—in Lincoln, Des Moines, Iowa City and Kansas City. During the tour’s stop in Lincoln, Reddit hosted events with UNL’s Raikes School as well as with Hudl.

Ohanian is responsible for the short documentary film, “Silicon Prairie: America’s New Internet Economy,” which was released in March, and spoke at the inaugural Big Kansas City.
