The team at Des Moines-based startup Torsion Mobile, a mobile solutions provider, decided marrying couples have enough to worry about on their big day.
So they built OnTime Guest, a mobile website service that provides up-to-date information about locations and times for guests and vendors on the day of the wedding.
“Couples have enough to worry about with their special day without additional concern about vendors and guests not being able to find their venues,” Torsion Mobile president and CEO Christian Gurney said in a press release. “This product springs directly from a need for accurate location and directions as well as other information in the mobile environment. With 70 percent of American subscribers owning smart phones, there is no reason to saddle guests with cumbersome and impossible to update printed maps.”

But building custom mobile sites is nothing new for Torsion Mobile—in 2011 Gurney and Richard Kirsner co-founded Mojaba, a software that allows creative professionals to create mobile-optimized websites. The project, previously referred to as “Project M,” began in December 2010 and received $50,000 from the Iowa Department of Economic Development‘s Demonstration Fund in July 2011.
OnTime Guest shares photos of venues, last-minute hotel details as well local spots to eat or attractions to visit with users, helping make the wedding experience run more smoothly.
“If it’s on the planet, we can help guests find it,” Gurney said.
Couples interested in utilizing the web application can purchase a custom site, loaded with their information, for an introductory rate of $99.
