Blake Miller, program director for the Think Big Accelerator, will take to the runway tonight as one of the “Sexiest Singles” for Big Brothers Big Sisters annual charity auction. To make the most impact, he could use the community’s support in the way of donations on his profile page and people coming to bid on the package he’s put together. So, before the event kicks off at 7 p.m. tonight at Town Pavillion Downtown, Silicon Prairie News asked about the event and how everyone could help out:

Silicon Prairie News: How did you get involved with the program?

Blake Miller: A very close friend, Kevin Will, did it last year and had a blast. He along with Jason Grill and a few others who had done it before me encouraged me to get involved and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a part of a really great cause.

SPN: What is the package for?

BM: The package I’ve put together is a Super Bowl weekend trip to Las Vegas for four people. A luxury suite and table reserved at a sports book for the game among other goodies! I’ve already had many greatly generous friends and family who have donated, but every little bit helps!

SPN: What volunteer work do you have a passion for?

BM: Getting involved with this event, I’ve learned more about the Kauffman Scholars BBBS program, which I hope to get involved with. I wish I had more time to become a Big. Other than that I work a lot with my brother Bret’s breast cancer foundation, helping my mother develop and execute on the foundation’s mission.

SPN: Why should everyone bid on your trip?

BM: When we were tasked with putting the packages together I tried to go for something I thought would go for max cash. My hope is four guys (or ladies) get together and bid on it. For $1–2K per person this is a pretty great trip to Vegas!

SPN: What has the experience been like up to this point?

BM: It’s really been a fun experience. Putting the package together was a little harder than I thought it was going to be, but people have been extremely generous with their time and wallets.

SPN: Anything else about the program you’re excited about or want to share?

BM: Tickets are still available to come bid on my or some of the other 25-plus packages available tonight at the Town Pavillion Downtown. Tickets are $40 at the door. Also, I’m still looking for extra help to cover some additional costs on the package, you can donate to my Big Brothers Big Sisters donation page. All donations are tax deductible.
