If you work remotely or not, finding office space can be a challenge. So we bring you a list of places where remote workers, creatives and entrepreneurs can grab a desk, plug in and get to work across the Silicon Prairie. 

Iowa 

 

Purple Cat Cowork • Cedar Falls

8120 Jennings Drive, Suite 13

Located inside the University of Northern Iowa’s Innovation Incubator, Purple Cat Cowork offers co-working monthly packages that range from $75 to $100, along with a la carte daily space from $7 to $20. 

Vault Coworking & Collaboration Space • Cedar Rapids

222 3rd St. SE, Fifth floor

Home to startups like NextStep.io and BandwidthPool, Vault is located in the Guaranty Bank building in Cedar Rapids. Purchase a one-day pass for $15 or a monthly membership for $199.

Coralville CoLab • Coralville

2852 Coral Court

Manged by the Iowa City Area Development Group, the recently opened Coralville CoLab is located near the University of Iowa’s research park. The space will offer open co-working Tuesdays from Jan. 28 through the end of February for individuals to learn more about the new space. Open Decorah • Decorah

128.5 W. Water St.

Open as of Jan. 1, 2014, Open Decorah is eastern Iowa’s newest co-working space. Individuals can work from the space for one day for $15 or purchase a ten-day pass for $90. A monthly co-working membership costs $100. 

Flock DSM • Des Moines

304 15th St., Suite 407

Recently relocated to Fitch Studios, Flock DSM is a freelance hub for graphic designers and “anyone else living the freelance lifestyle.” Buy a “perch” pass and spend the day at Flock for $10, or commit to a monthly membership, starting at $80 per month. 

 

Regus • Des Moines

699 Walnut Street, Suite 400

Need a short-term place to work or a space to meet clients? It may not be a co-working space, but shared workspace in Regus’ downtown Des Moines location starts at $15 per month and five-day passes for Regus’ private executive offices start at $69. 

StartupCity Des Moines • Des Moines

317 6th Ave., 5th floor

Opened in 2011, StartupCity began as an incubator and later shifted focus to include more space for local companies and co-workers looking for office space. Daily drop-in rates are $10 and monthly co-working rates begin at $100. Thursday is Open Co-working Day, stop by to work with other Des Moines entrepreneurs.

Busy Coworking • Iowa City 

218 E. Washington St.

Eastern Iowa co-workers can work day-to-day at Busy Coworking using a $15 day pass or purchase a $165 monthly membership. The space also welcomes walk-ins for local entrepreneurs interested in trying out the space. 

IC CoLab • Iowa City 

316 E. Court St.

Home to Iowa City-based companies like Sculpt and Tutor Universe, the IC CoLab offers a mixture of private offices and open layout co-working space. IC CoLab’s daily drop-in is $15 and team offices, while limited, begin at $400 per month. 

Springboard Coworking • Sioux City

700 4th Street, Unit 210

Located in downtown Sioux City, Springboard Coworking provides an office space for entrepreneurs and creatives of all types. Daily co-working passes are available for $20 and monthly plans begin at $50 per month. On the first Friday of each month anyone is welcome to take advantage of Springboard Coworking’s free co-working. 

 

StartupCity Spencer • Spencer

24 West Park St.

StartupCity Spencer is a business incubator and workspace located in the Iowa Lakes Corridor. For more information about co-working, contact StartupCity Spencer’s city manager

Veel Hoeden • Pella

709 Main St.

Located southeast of Des Moines in Pella, Veel Hoeden offers remote workers a place to connect and get their work day. Day passes are $5 while a monthly membership ranges from $30 to $60. Private offices also are available for $230. 

inTANDEM workspace • Webster City

501 Bank Street

InTANDEM workspace not only provides office space for entrepreneurs in and around Webster City, Iowa, but also helps educate and connect new business owners. Monthly memberships begin at $60. Daily passes are available for $10 and individuals interested only in special events or educational offerings can sign up for a social membership for $25 per month. 

Kansas

 

The KC Commons • Mission

5913 Woodson Road

Looking for a place to co-work not far from Kansas City? KC Commons houses a number of companies and offers reserved desks for $150 a month or private offices for $450 a month. 

 

The Labor Party • Wichita

216 N. Mosley 

Wichita’s The Labor Party is a home to a number of local companies as well as a community of co-workers. “Tourists” are invited to spend the day for $20 while monthly memberships are available starting at $75.

Missouri  

Museao  Columbia

3500 Buttonwood Drive

Created as a hub for entrepreneurial activity in Columbia, Museao offers a space for individuals to co-work and collaborate. Contact the space’s organizers to schedule a visit or a tour. 

 

Cowork Waldo • Kansas City 

7449 Broadway

Located in the heart of the Waldo neighborhood, this co-working space opened in early 2013. Day passes are available for $20 and the monthly membership rate is $350. 

Innovation Cafe • Kansas City 

111 W. 10th St.

Innovation Cafe invites individuals of all fields to gather at its space and work in the company of others. Membership packages range from $39 to $399 a month, with a variety of seating options, services and office space. 

OfficePort KC • Kansas City 

208 W. 19th St.

Located in Kansas City’s Crossroads, OfficePortKC is conventiently located and offers flexible office space for individuals or teams. For more information, inquire about reserving an office port

 

Sprint Accelerator • Kansas City

210 W. 19th St.

It’s not finished yet, but swing by Wednesday for the entire space’s open house, which will include a small area on the first floor for daily drop-ins. Although there won’t be dedicated desks or spots—so not a full co-working space—there will be room for whoever needs Internet or meeting place on a first-come, first-served basis starting some time in February or March. Think Big Coworking • Kansas City

1800 Baltimore Ave.

Think Big Coworking houses teams from startups like Dwolla and MindMIxer work from the space and offers features like a coffee bar, rooftop garden and green screen studio. Think Big’s daily drop-in rate is $15 and monthly packages are available from $100 to $450. 

 

The eFactory • Springfield

405 N. Jefferson Ave.

Housed on the Missouri State University campus, The eFactory is a tech-focused business incubator and entrepreneurial development center. Learn more about the collaborative work space. 

Nebraska 

FUSE Coworking • Lincoln

Located in Lincoln’s Haymarket District, FUSE is both a workspace and community hub. The co-working space offers day passes for $20 and monthly memberships ranging from $125 to $850. 

 

Cali Commons • Omaha

518 N. 40th St.

CoVis Coworking • Omaha

CoVis Coworking welcomes entrepreneurs and creatives of all types to its Omaha workspace. Monthly rates begin at $149. Added bonus: at CoVis Coworking, you can pay for your space using Bitcoin. 

 South Dakota

 

Meso • Sioux Falls

220 S. Phillips Ave.

Home to a number of local companies, Meso is a co-working space located in the heart of downtown Sioux Falls. Monthly co-working rates range from $125 to $300 a month. 

Update (Jan. 20): inTANDEM workspace, Regus and The Labor Party were added to our list of co-working spaces in the Silicon Prairie.
