Ever go to an event and feel embarassed you know someone through LinkedIn, Facebook or email, but have never truly “met” them? It happens a lot for the SPN editorial team, and we’re determined to find a remedy.
As SPN’s editorial team, one of the most exciting things we get to do is help share the stories of startups across the Silicon Prairie. Every day we receive countless emails, answer numerous phone calls and overhear more than a few tidbits about all the awesome things going on in our entrepreneurial communities.
That said, sometimes we spend so much time in the office writing about the companies you create and events you all help pull together that we don’t get to actually engage with the community as much as we’d like. So every week or so going forward you’ll be able to find each of us out and about in the community—maybe our favorite coffee shop or a co-working space, but it’ll change all the time.

It may be for a couple hours, a half-day or all day. But we’ve come to realize we need to open ourselves up to a constant dialogue—no agenda or plan, just hear from whoever wants to chat with us. Hopefully it’ll spur even better stories of our incredible community and help us better understand its needs.
Think of this as “open office hours.” Regardless of where we are or what projects we may be working on, we want to spend more time around all of you. Come hang out with us, grab a coffee and maybe we’ll even share a .gif or two, as we’re inclined to do.
Our new Omaha editor Jordan kicks us off with a trip to Lincoln this afternoon to spend time with some of the startups in the Haymarket District, then he’ll settle in at The Mill from 1:30 to 5 p.m. for our first SPN open office hours.
