This year, Infotec—a tech, marketing and business conference scheduled for April 15-16 at CenturyLink Center in Omaha—will have four keynotes, 50 breakout sessions and a hands-on area where attendees can try the latest tech.

Infotec is an ecosystem that connects IT students, workers and leaders in a setting with content, networking and fun, according to a release. The conference is sponsored by AIM, a not-for-profit community organization that promotes technology to empower people, enhance organizations and create brilliant communities.

The keynote speakers are Matthew Monahan, CEO of Inflection; Tan Le, CEO of Emotiv; Dan Zarrella, chief scientist of Hubspot; and Justin Kolenbrander of the FBI’s Omaha Cyber Task Force.

In 2012, Monahan took big data startup Inflection to a $100 million exit in five years when they sold Archives.com, to Ancestry.com. The company still has an Omaha office.

Le heads Emotiv, the Silicon Valley startup which developed a headset to read brainwaves, and will demo the device to move a small helicopter using thought.

Zarrella will talk about the data science behind social media and what research shows is most effective. He also will also lead four mini sessions for the marketing and technology track of the conference.

Justin Kolenbrander of the FBI’s Omaha office will talk about cyber investigations and the Omaha Cyber Task Force, which is comprised of investigative and forensic personnel from the FBI and nine other state and local law enforcement entities from Nebraska and Iowa.

Breakout sessions include:

  • Internet Controlled Hardware Prototyping with Jon LeBlanc, global head of developer evangelism at PayPal. “With the rise of inexpensive, WiFi and bluetooth low energy enabled electronics, this hardware revolution is Internet and mobile controlled, all through simple bridges to build the electronics intelligence in familiar web languages.”
  • The Convergence of Marketing & Technology at Nebraska Crossing, Mary Ann O’Brien, CEO and founder of OBI Creative. “The new Nebraska Crossing mall was a clean slate for innovative uses of technology in marketing. Learn more about the design, development, implementation and results from the many tools and techniques used in this campaign,” the press release states.
