Every year our Big Omaha family grows larger as folks from more than 200 cities across the country and the globe join to be inspired to follow their passions and empowered to build their companies. Silicon Prairie News is thrilled to welcome every new attendee, and we’ll always have a special place in our hearts for the friends who have been with us since the beginning.

Megan Hunt was one of the first 400 who latched onto the idea and believed that an event celebrating the Midwestern entrepreneurial community could be the success it has become.

“In the beginning, I wanted to go to Big Omaha because it represented an opportunity to connect and build community with everyone in the Omaha area who were doing inspiring things.”

Despite her excitement, Megan admits she kept her expectations low entering the first year. But once the 2009 conference wrapped up, she knew Big Omaha was a conference she never wanted to miss.

“I can’t emphasize enough how much I was blown away from the very beginning by the Big Omaha experience. From the branding to the beautiful space, the parties to the availability of each speaker, the attention to detail put into the event gave me so much more value than I expected.”

As the years have passed, Big Omaha has developed, offering more inspiration, insight and connections to an ever-growing group of attendees. And as Big Omaha matured, like many loyal attendees, Megan did the same.

An embodiment of the region’s entrepreneurial spirit, Megan has been documenting her personal life and career on her Princess Lasertron blog since 2005. Throughout the past nine years she has shared her work as a wedding designer, community builder and co-founder of her first company, Hello Holiday.

Despite staying busy with all these ventures, she has made it back to Big Omaha year after year. “I was born to do too much and work too hard, and my time at Big Omaha feels like my favorite vacation of the year. There’s nothing more energizing for me or my work than being surrounded by people who get it.”

Join Megan at Big Omaha this year from May 7-9 at KANEKO. Check it out at BigOmaha.com.
