The second and last Omaha Chamber Startup Event Draft of 2014 is Thursday at 7 p.m. at Aromas in Benson.

The Draft is similar to the first one that took place In February, in which community members slot Chamber-sponsored entrepreneurial events on the calendar. The events for this round will be scheduled from July through December.

Dusty Reynolds, entrepreneurship director for the Chamber, said he hopes to get one solidified, good event on the calendar per week. Last time, people dropped out, didn’t meet certain criteria or never filled out an application.

He said the most successful event was the pre-Big Omaha developer party last Wednesday—more than 100 attended. Other Event Draft events included meetups for Omaha Coding Women, a speed networking event and a civic hack day. The events will continue to be posted on omahastartups.org.

The purpose of this is to support entrepreneurial events/meetings/networking/learning right here in our startup community, according to the Facebook page for the event.

You must attend to pitch your event to the community and save a spot for your event on the calendar. Up to a $400 grant is available for each event. You also must fill out a paper application at the event or fill one out any time here. — Source: Omaha Chamber
