Mike Kolker sees the need for a new event in Omaha.

The relationship manager for the AIM Institute, a nonprofit passionate about connecting people with technology, and with each other, says the event is simple: meet, talk, connect.

He calls the semi-regular informal meetups AIM Tech Talks, which include short, impromptu presentations and conversations provided by attendees.

Anyone interested in technology is welcome and encouraged to attend. The purpose is to provide a time and place to build new relationships, talk about some tech and create new collaborations or mutually beneficial opportunities, he said.

“We ultimately want to give people the opportunity to share more about themselves, their businesses and most importantly—their ideas—using talk about tech as the catalyst.”

The first AIM Tech Talk is June 30 at LIV Lounge in Aksarben Village. Networking begins at 5 p.m. and the talks will start around 5:15 p.m. and last about 45 minutes.

Everyone that shows up will have two minutes to share a quick, off-the-cuff story about a creative way they personally or professionally use technology. Props are welcome, but technology won’t be provided.

“Think of it as a ‘tech show and tell’ or a celebration of the creators and users of tech,” Kolker said. “I want this to be about networking and hope there’s discussion afterward.”

There’s no RSVP required, just show up with a business card to give out, Kolker said.
