The Iowa International Center announced Tuesday that StartupCity Des Moines principal Tej Dhawan is one of the organization’s 2014 Passport to Prosperity honorees. The award recognizes Iowa immigrants and refugees who “have made Iowa a better place to live through their contributions to the economic, social and cultural fabric of our community,” according to the Iowa International Center. Dhawan is originally from India.

Dhawan also has worked with the STEM Advisory Council and is one of the founders of Nestmint, a new investment fund for Iowa companies.

The four recipients will be honored during the Center’s Passport to Prosperity Gala on Sept. 27 in Drake University’s Olmsted Center. — Source: Iowa International Center
